Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Basset Certification Program all about?
The goals and objectives of the BASSET program are:
Train and educated sellers and servers to engage in responsible alcohol service;
- Prevent DUIs and alcohol-related fatalities;
- Stop underage sales and underage drinking;
- Create safer communities and establishments where alcohol is served;
- Educate owners, managers and staff on state and local laws regarding alcohol service.
The BASSET program covers five topic areas in great detail: The physical properties of alcohol, intervention and prevention techniques, how to
properly check identification cards and drivers licenses, and lastly, state, local laws regarding alcohol service, and Dram Shop liability.
The Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) licenses and administers the program. In order to conduct seller/server training courses a BASSET
license is required. There are currently 136 BASSET licensees throughout the state. The licensees consist of independent contractors, businesses
and law enforcement officers.

What are these annoying 'validation' questions?
Validation questions are questions we ask throughout the course to verify you are who you say you are. These required questions are asked
during enrollment and, yes, we know the questions are not fool-proof, but they serve as a mechanism to keep you honest and on your toes.
Besides if you have someone else take the course for you, you could be fined and jailed for lying to a State agency.

Most all PC computers will work with this course as long as you have Internet access. Although other browsers sometimes work properly, we
strongly suggest using the Internet Explorer browser to complete our course. You can login from multiple computers, as long as you are connected

When will I get my certificate?
Once you've enrolled, completed the course, and passed the final exam with a 70% or more, you will have access to a customized printable
