Illinois Food Service Sanitation Manager Training Course
The Illinois Department of Public Health requires that all food service establishments that prepare and serve food to have a certified food service manager on the premises at all times food is being handled. As of July 1st, 2014 new employees must have their certification within 30 days.
In order to receive this Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (FSSMC) from the state of Illinois, the employee must take an approved 8 hour training course and pass an accredited exam. The Illinois requirement for this course was shortened from 15 hours to only 8 hours as of July 1st, 2014.
The course and exam is provided by 360training (Learn2Serve) in partnership with National Hospitality Training LLC. This Exam is accepted by the American National Standards Institute and the Conference for Food Protection (ANSI-CFP) and is accepted in all 50 states.
The online exam is taken in a 3rd party proctored environment. ANSI-CFP has strict procedures as to how the exam is administered. The state of Illinois requires a score of 75 or higher in order to accept the exam.
Certificate holders may also renew their license by completing an approved food safety 8 hour course prior to the expiration of their certification as a part of the continuing education clause. With this procedure, you do NOT need to retake the proctored exam for renewal.
If you only need to renew your existing certificate, visit our Certificate Renewal page.
