On-Premise Course Is For Bars, Restaurants, Hotels — Drinks by the glass. Liquor, Convenience and Grocery Stores MUST take the Off-Premise Course.

The ILCC encourages voluntary participation in seller/server training courses. BASSET training can also reduce an establishment's liquor liability insurance.

What this means to you as a liquor-serving employee is that you not only receive protection in the event of an alcohol-involved incident, but you will become more hire-able by these quality companies since you will already be certified by a program that is approved through the Illinois Liquor Control Commission BASSET program.

Who Should Be BASSET Certified?

Anyone who sells or serves alcohol in the state of Illinois should take this training and receive their certification.

This includes:

  • Bartenders
  • Bar Backs
  • Servers
  • Managers
  • Owners
  • Liquor Store Clerks
  • Grocery Store Employees
  • Convenience Store Employees

BASSET certification is now mandatory for any on-premise alcohol employee who serves beverages to be consumed on-site. The state also requires BASSET training for employees who check ID for alcohol service.

If you work at a liquor store, grocery store or another location that sells alcohol for off-site consumption, you must take the Off-Premise BASSET course.
